Hella hella lovely readers. What came to your mind when you saw the title of this blog? Yes, that’s it, it says so much about how the world influences our perspective or perception and meaning of words that once meant something totally different from what we attach it to these days. We mostly use this phrase in relation to marriages and careers, in situations where we make choices deemed less than the best.
But who is responsible for making those decisions? Who decides that you have settled? Who is the judge of settling?
I shall repeat this from time to time, I am out here to defy popular mentalities, opinions and phrases coined to shape us a certain way rather than allow us to actually manifest the fullness of who we were individually created to be by God. To manifest his mind and nature in everything we do.
You are the sole decision maker on whether you have settled or not. If you allow God to be at the center of your every decision, there will never be such a thing as settling. Settling is not entirely tied to the spouse you marry or the career you choose, it is majorly tied to the choices you make as an individual.
We don’t settle when we have children to take care of. We don’t settle when we have a generation to raise and mentor, families to nature, and a purpose to live up to with a life of significance. The very nature of human existence is not made to settle but to continuously evolve and revolutionalize the surrounding environment.
The next time you think of settling, look within you, you could be the one choosing to settle as an individual and not necessarily the spouse or career you choose. In my view, I would say that to settle for something is better than to settle for nothing at all. But what is worse is to settle for a mediocrity of societal opinions that seek to only limit our potential of reaching our highest selves.
